Alfred Nzo District Municipality is currently on extensive mayoral outreach programme launching water supply projects that will see 3 428 households receiving clean running water for the first time in 19 villages across the district.   


These water projects which are funded through Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) to provide intermediate water solution to rural communities will see residents of:

         ·         Gobizembe, Pontseng/Diaho, Khashule, Nedfarm and Mahlake  in Matatiele;

         ·         Mbangweni, Emazeni/Thembeni, Vulindlela 2 and Vane 2 in Ntabankulu;

      ·         Munyeni/Sirhoqobeni, Mqhekezweni, Mbodleni, Siver City and Extension 7 in Umzimvubu;

         ·         Nontlanga, Dumsi, Nobamba and Mkhambathini in Mbizana


The projects are valued at R90 million and have created more than 150 job opportunities for locals.  


Executive Mayor, Cllr. Sixolile Mehlomakhulu said: “This has provided much relief as we are striving to reduce water supply backlog in the district to be below 50% and are expected to completed on average period of 6 to 12 months.”
