PLANNING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Department of Development and Economic planning is divided into three Units being:
- Development Planning
- Economic Planning
- Geographic Information Management System
A. DEVELOPMENT PLANNING
The unit amongst others is responsible for the following key activities:
- Formulation and review of District Integrated Development Plan (IDP)
- Coordination of Institutional Performance Management System (Quarterly and Annual Reports)
- Formulation and Review of District Spatial Development Framework Plan
- Land Use Management (support to Local Municipalities)
B. ECONOMIC PLANNING
The unit amongst others is responsible for the following key activities:
- Formulation and review of District Local Economic Development Strategy
- Formulation and review of District Growth and Development Strategy
- Formulation and review of District Agricultural Master Plan
- Formulation and review of District Tourism Development Plan
- Coordination of District Support Team
C. GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
- Undertake district data capturing and update spatial planning
- Undertake capturing and update of district municipal infrastructure services (Assets Register)
- Maintenance of GIS Infrastructure
