Alfred Nzo District Municipality

Message From The Executive Mayor

Allow me to greet you all

We have just started the financial year after having adopted our IDP, Budget and its related policies.

Moving with that we have just presented our State of the District Address(SODA) which we held in Makhwantini, Madiba A/A in Winnie Mdikizela Mandela. All this we did driven and mindful of the rural nature of our District and the daily struggles of our rural masses.

Some of the highlights of the State of the District Address include the following:

  • Over R1.2 bn total Budget for the financial year.
  • Completion of Ntabankulu Sewer Project wherein, we are decommissioning septic tanks and connecting them to the main drainage.
  • Completion of phase 1 A of the reticulation of the Greater Mbizana Regional Bulk Water Supply to a value of R 353 million covering 9 zones out of the total 17 supply zones. These include villages in ward 2,4,5,6,7,9,26,27 & 31
  • R70 million allocation to complete Fobane Water Scheme The objective of this project is to supply 13815 people with potable water in ward 17, 18, 23 & 24 in the Matatiele Local Municipality. The total project cost is R 377 million. The project implementation started in 2010 and has been implemented in phases.

We took a decision to put at the centre of our everyday effort, the prioritization of our rural communities. Against this background we promise our people that, for the remainder of our term we will prioritise rural development.

As we bring this newsletter, we are doing it as part of our accountability to our people and we will continue to use this amongst our many plartforms to give account of the work that government is doing
